Matchstick Studio is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help guide our continued mission of creating the best and easiest to use CMS available, the Matchstick Framework. This position will work closely with team members and clients to identify, plan, and execute new features, bug fixes, and continuous rollout of future Framework versions. It is vitally important that we find someone whose personality and attitude fits with the culture of Matchstick Studio. Someone who is a self starter, can manage their time well, avoid distractions, pay attention to the details, and behaves like an adult who doesn't need constant supervision in order to complete their work is paramount. We are looking for someone who knows how to develop for the web and can apply programming essentials without the crutch of third party frameworks, libraries, or themes. These include HTML, CSS, Javascript, browsers, APIs, and database architectures. Other basic skills would include, knowledge of object-oriented programming, MVC architecture, version control, and optimization. This person should be passionate about the future of the web and stay up to date on current and future standards. This position will help directly shape the future of the Matchstick Framework at scale, and above all will be joining a fun, laidback, and honest team with a client-first approach.


Requirements


  • 5+ years of experience in web development (front and back end)
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support new software solutions and changes to existing solutions
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and research issues related to configurations, databases, and data issues.
  • Translate business requirements into components for development
  • Strong experience with version control (git)
  • Expert in all basic programming skills
  • Expert in all basic web development technologies including HTML, CSS, Javascript, APIs, JSON, AJAX, etc without the need for third party frameworks, libraries, or themes
  • Object oriented programming
  • Ability to provide time estimates of new features and fixes as accurately as possible
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Working knowledge of cloud organizational tools such as Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.
  • Ability to deliver projects on time and within scope
  • Ability to create appropriate documentation and comments for other developers to utilize
  • Ability to use project management tools to update and track progress
  • Ability to report and escalate issues as needed
  • Ability to troubleshoot environment/hosting-related issues with web technology such as DNS, SSL, etc
